Operations at Portland RM Court to Get Major Boost from New Records Management System
The Courts of Jamaica took yet another step to improve efficiency with the launch of a Records Management Pilot Project. The announcement was made at the project launch, by The Hon. Mrs. Justice Zaila McCalla – Chief Justice, who met with members of the project implementation team and employees of the Portland Resident Magistrates’ Court on Friday January 17, 2014.
The Chief Justice pointed out that there are many benefits to be derived from bringing the project to completion. Chief among the benefits to the courts and by extension the justice sector are:
- A modernized, efficient records management system
- Increased accountability at each stage of the file processing
- The reduction of case backlog
- Improved service delivery to users of the courts.
The pilot phase is expected to last for six (6) months after which the system will be rolled out to courts across the island for full implementation.
