The Kingston and St. Andrew Family Court Attendance Centre hosted its annual evening of excellence on Wednesday May 7 under the theme “Redefining our Youth - Pathway to Personal Development.” The event which took place on the school grounds at 79 Duke Street saw students, teachers, administrators and parents celebrating another achievement for the students. The afternoon’s proceedings were a mixture of musical entertainment, poetry and words of encouragement to the students and their parents.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Rosalee Gage-Grey, Chief Executive Officer of the Child Development Agency (CDA) urged the students to confront their challenges with a determined spirit and to chose their friends wisely on the the journey of personal development. The Attendance Centre staged a series of dinning etiquette workshops which culminated in an evening of excellence, all geared to the personal development of the students.
Since its inception in 1978, the Family Court Attendance Centre (FCAC) has been transforming the lives of youngsters with social and behavioral problems. The entity operates as a non-residential rehabilitation centre for young people 12 to 18 years old, who have dropped out of the formal education system, and require a rehabilitative intervention process designed to help mould students into healthy productive citizens.
